The guest ordering experience
This page describes what a guest does when they order through the Centro app — from browsing the store to tracking their order. Staff setting ordering up should also read Setting up ordering.
Browsing and choosing
Guests order in one of two ways, depending on how you've built the screen:
- From a store. A Centro Flex Store shows a menu — a hero image, featured items, and products grouped by category. The guest opens an item, chooses a quantity, and adds it to their basket.
- Buy Now. A single product can be placed on a screen on its own as a Buy Now tile — the guest sets a quantity and buys it directly, without building a basket.
Booking a service
If the item is a bookable service (linked to a calendar resource), choosing it opens a reservation step: the guest picks an available date and time slot before adding it to their order.
The basket
The basket ("My basket") lists what the guest has chosen with quantities and prices, and a running total. From here the guest can change quantities, remove items, or clear the basket, then continue to checkout.
Checkout and payment
At checkout the guest confirms their order and pays:
- With payments enabled, the guest is taken to Stripe's secure checkout to pay by card. On success they return to a confirmation page and the order moves to Paid; if payment doesn't complete, the order shows a payment error and can be retried.
- With payments switched off, the order is placed without a charge and goes straight to confirmation.
Tracking an order
Guests see their orders under the Orders area of the app. Each order shows:
- a status tracker that advances as staff handle the order (see Order lifecycle and statuses),
- the items, quantities and prices, with the subtotal, tax and total, and
- a Send a message option that opens a chat thread with staff about the order.
Guests can search their orders by order number.
Cancelling an order
A guest can cancel an order themselves while it's still early in the process — before staff have started delivering it. Once an order is on its way or complete, it can no longer be cancelled from the app; the guest can message staff instead.
Rating an order
When an order is complete, the guest can leave a star rating and review, giving you feedback on the service.
