Occupancy & Automation
Centro can let a room look after itself. Using an occupancy sensor, a room responds automatically to whether anyone is there — saving energy when it's empty and getting comfortable again the moment someone returns.
What happens automatically
When a room becomes vacant, Centro waits for a configurable delay and then, if it's still empty:
- drifts the climate to a setback temperature,
- turns the lights off and
- powers the in-room display off.
When someone comes back, the pending action is cancelled and the display powers on again — so guests don't walk into a room mid-shutdown.
Centro can also tie automation to a door contact — for example, switching the air conditioning off while a balcony or patio door is left open.
Setup and commissioning
The vacancy delay and which actions run (climate setback, lights off, display off) are configured per room by your Centro administrator. During commissioning, engineers can run a walk test that shortens the vacancy delay to a few seconds, so they can confirm the room reacts correctly without waiting.
Occupancy automation runs on the Centro Gateway at the edge, so a room keeps behaving correctly even if its connection to the cloud drops.
